There could be times when you will need to move tasks from one project to another. This article will outline how to reassign individual tasks, but if you need to move multiple tasks, see the Task Bulk Actions article.

Move Tasks to New Projects

When in the All Work tab, you can reassign a task to a different project by simply dragging a Project Name from the left sidebar and dropping it onto the task. You can do this in Kanban, Row, Plan, and Calendar Views.

You can also change the task's project in Task Details.

View Unassigned Tasks and Move them to Projects

Tasks that have not been assigned to projects do not have a color bar on the task card and can be viewed under the My Tasks board filter when in the All Work tab. When you open the My Tasks board filter, you will see a new option in the Projects list in the left sidebar: Unassigned. You can see all of your unassigned tasks under that "project" and reassign them to projects by following the same steps as above.

In addition, when multiple projects are selected in the My Tasks board filter, all tasks created through Quick Add will default to Unassigned.

  1. In the All Work tab, in the left sidebar, select the My Tasks board filter.
  2. Under Projects, select Unassigned to view unassigned tasks.
  3. Uncheck Unassigned to hide unassigned tasks.

From here, you can follow the same steps outlined in the Move Tasks to New Projects section above to distribute the unassigned tasks into projects.
