Cirrus Insight + TaskRay

Cirrus Insight not only helps you attach emails to TaskRay Projects and Tasks, it also allows you to create TaskRay Projects and Tasks, all without leaving your Gmail inbox.

This beautiful interaction between the two apps warranted its own video. In this video you'll see the settings you'll need to adjust in Salesforce to let Cirrus Insight integrate with TaskRay, and you'll also get to see the whole thing in action.

Step-by-Step [Admin]

For your reference, here are the Salesforce configuration steps that need to take place in order for TaskRay to work with Cirrus Insight.

Keep in mind, before you begin setting this integration up, make sure that Cirrus Insight has been installed and configured for you and your users. For more information, go here.

 

Enable Activities on the TaskRay Project and Task Objects 

  1. From Setup, navigate to:
    • Lightning: Objects and Fields | Object Manager.
    • Classic: Create | Objects.
  1. Open the TaskRay Project object.
  2. Click Edit at the top of the page (in the Details section if you are in Lightning).
  3. Under Optional Features, check the Allow Activities checkbox.
  4. Click Save.

Repeat the steps to check the Allow Activities checkbox on the TaskRay Task object.

 

Edit the Page Layouts on the TaskRay Project and Task Objects

  1. From Setup, navigate to:
    • Lightning: Objects and Fields | Object Manager.
    • Classic: Create | Objects.
  1. Open the TaskRay Project object.
  2. Scroll down the page until you reach the Page Layouts section and click on Page Layout.
  3. In the container across the top, click on Related Lists (left menu).
  4. Drag Activity History and Open Activities onto the desired place on the page layout.
  5. Click Save

Repeat the steps to move Activity History and Open Activities onto the TaskRay Task page layout.

 

Optional: Turn on Chatter Feed Tracking for Related Objects 

  1. From Setup, navigate to:
    • Lightning: Feature Settings | Chatter | Chatter Settings.
    • Classic:  Customize | Chatter | Chatter Settings.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Scroll down the page and select the Enable Actions in the Publisher checkbox.
  4. Click Save.

    Note: The steps to Enable Actions in the Publisher were skipped in the video (it was already enabled). It is important to have this checkbox checked in order to see the All Related Objects checkbox described in the following step.
  5. From Setup, navigate to:
    • Lightning: Feature Settings | Chatter | Feed Tracking.
    • Classic:  Customize | Chatter | Feed Tracking.
  6. From the list on the left, select TaskRay Project object.
  7. Check the All Related Objects checkbox.
  8. Click Save.
  9. From the list on the left, select TaskRay Task object.
  10. Check the All Related Objects checkbox.
  11. Click Save.

 

Add TaskRay to Cirrus Insight

Now that you have this configured, you can add TaskRay to the Cirrus Insight extension for yourself and other users. For this step, you must have Cirrus Insight admin rights. 

  1. Go to the Cirrus Insight Dashboard.
  2. Click on Inbox Apps.
  3. Click on Gallery.
  4. Locate TaskRay and click on Add to Cirrus Insight.
