Delete Task Groups

Note: This feature is available to the following product editions: 
  • Starter
  • Standard
  • Premium

It is possible to delete task groups and their tasks if needed. You can delete task groups in Task Group Mode in Kanban and Row Views, as well as in Plan View. It is also possible to delete task groups from the Portfolio tab Project View.

Generally, it might not be best practice to delete records (such as task groups) as they may be needed for reporting and analysis. Instead, you could consider archiving task groups because archived task groups will remain accessible for reporting and analysis: Archive Task Groups.

Note: Deleting the task group deletes all of its tasks as well. If you do not want to delete the tasks, reassign them to other task groups/projects prior to deletion.

 

[All Work] [Kanban + Row] Task Group Mode

  1. In the left sidebar, click on a project to enter single project view. Alternatively, you can use Single Project Search to select the project.
  2. In Kanban or Row View, in the top right corner of the page, switch the Task Group Mode toggle to on.

    Note: If you can't switch the toggle to on (toggle is inactive), check that you only have one project selected in the left sidebar. Task Group Mode cannot be turned on when multiple projects are selected.
  3. Locate the task group that you want to archive, hover over its name, and click on the More Actions icon that appears.
  4. Select Delete Task Group.

  5. In the dialog that comes up, click on Delete.

[All Work] Plan View

In Plan View, you can delete task groups from the Projects & Tasks sidebar.

  1. In the Projects & Tasks sidebar, locate the task group that you want to archive, hover over its name, and click on the More Actions icon that appears.
  2. Select Delete Task Group.

  3. In the dialog that comes up, click on Delete.

 

[Performance] Portfolio View

It is also possible to delete task groups in Portfolio View.

  1. In Portfolio View, locate the project that contains the task group that you want to delete. Click on the expand Arrow icon to the left of the project name to see its task group(s).
  2. Hover over the task group that you want to delete and click on the More Actions icon on the far right.
  3. Select Delete Task Group.
