The Tasks At Risk section of the Assistant is designed to help you manage tasks if they become overdue or if there is a schedule conflict. This section of the Assistant is visible in all Work views, but only if there are any tasks in the currently selected projects that meet the necessary criteria.
Tasks At Risk
This section displays two things:
- Schedule Conflict: Will display if there is a task or milestone with a locked date that has a dependent predecessor that is scheduled outside of the specified timeframe. For your reference, you can read more about dependencies here.
- Overdue: Shows tasks that are not completed and have an end date that occurs in the past.
To access Tasks At Risk, click on the Assistant tab in the right sidebar when in the All Work tab. Remember, the Tasks At Risk section will not appear if there are no tasks in the selected project(s) that are either overdue or in a schedule conflict.
You can also click on the headers to expand and collapse them.
Schedule Conflict
If there are any milestones or tasks that have a schedule conflict in the currently selected project(s), those tasks will appear here for your reference. Schedule conflicts could occur when a locked task or milestone has a dependent predecessor that is scheduled outside of the specified timeframe. Schedule conflicts will have different criteria depending on the dependency type between the two tasks.
When a schedule conflict occurs, the dependency between the two tasks will turn red.
For schedule conflicts, the Assistant will display a box with the pair of tasks that are directly involved. In the box, the first will be the predecessor task that is dependent on the locked task or milestone and the second will be the locked task or milestone itself. On these task cards, you will see the task names, their projects and task groups, as well as their start dates (S), end dates (E), and business durations (D). There will also be a See in Plan View link for each set of tasks in conflict. Clicking on it will take you to their spot on the timeline in Plan View.
Tasks will be indicated by circle icons and milestones will be indicated by diamond icons. These icons are color-coded to match the projects that the tasks/milestones belong to.
Overdue
If there are any overdue tasks in the currently selected projects, they will display here. For your reference, overdue tasks are those that have not yet been completed and have end dates that occur in the past.
Overdue tasks will appear in the Assistant as cards. On each card, you will see the task name, its owner, its project and task group, as well as its start date (S), end date (E), and business duration (D). You will also see a set of options for deferring the overdue task: 1 Day, 1 Week, 1 Month, and Pick Date. Using these options, you can quickly change the task's end date and push it to another date. The Pick Date option will allow you to select a specific date to reschedule the task's end date.
If the overdue task has locked dates, you will see a Lock icon next to the dates in the Assistant. You will not be able to defer end dates on locked tasks using the quick options in the Assistant unless you unlock the tasks first.
Tasks will be indicated by circle icons and milestones will be indicated by diamond icons. These icons are color-coded to match the projects that the tasks/milestones belong to.
