TaskRay Feature Retirements

Upcoming Feature Retirements

Important alert.001.png

On October 29, 2024External Sharing and the Lightning Components Package will be retired. They will be replaced by the Collaboration View and components in the TaskRay Package, respectively. It is recommended to make the switch to the enhanced functionality prior to the retirement to ensure a smooth transition.

Additionally, the following will be retired: TaskRay Email Assistant, Task Topics, Box for TaskRay, and Granting Field Level Access without Object Access. See below for details on each retirement.

October 2024: Granting Field Access without Object Access

Previously, organizations could grant users access to specific fields on objects without granting said users access to the related object. Salesforce now provides a method for checking access that requires users to have access to an object in order to access to any field on the object.

On October 29, 2024, TaskRay will utilize the more secure method for checking access mentioned above, therefore restricting users from accessing fields on objects they do not have access to. If your organization uses custom permissions for TaskRay, verify users have access to all objects related to fields they have been granted access to via field level security.

October 2024: Email Assistant

Previously, organization could utilize the TaskRay Email Assistant to access TaskRay inside of Outlook or Gmail. The TaskRay Email Assistant allowed users to view and manage work in their mailbox via the TaskRay Projects and TaskRay Today lightning components. Due to limited usage, the TaskRay Email Assistant will be retired on October 29, 2024. For other ways to manage work via email, check out our article on Email Notifications.

October 2024: Task Topics

Previously, organizations could enable Topics for TaskRay Tasks to tag tasks for organization and visual reference. Topics would appear in blue on the Task Cards, visible in Kanban and Row views. Due to their limited usage, support for Task Topics will be retired on October 29, 2024. For alternative options for visually organizing and labeling work in TaskRay, check out our article on Task Card Labels

October 2024: Lightning Component Managed Package

Prior to the October 2022 Release, organizations that wanted to use Lightning Components had to install a separate managed package.  This managed package, while owned and operated by TaskRay, had a separate namespace, and a different release and upgrade process. This resulted in System Administrators maintaining and managing two separate package to achieve full TaskRay functionality.

With the introduction of the October 2022 Release, we incorporated the Lightning Components from the separate managed package into our core managed package.

On October 29, 2024, the Lightning Components Managed Package will be retired and all organizations will be required to use the Lightnings Components within the main TaskRay Package. Learn more about how to make the transition.

October 2024: External Sharing

Prior to the March 2022 Release, customers who wanted to share projects with their external stakeholders used External Sharing, a public link that shares the Plan view of a project.

With the March 2022 Release, we introduced the Collaboration View, an enhancement to External Sharing that adds additional features such as custom branding options and a new To-Do view that highlights tasks assigned to external stakeholders.

On October 29, 2024, External Sharing will be retired and all organizations will be required to use the Collaboration View.  Luckily, the transition is only a click of a button! Go to the Collaboration View utility in Tools & Settings to make the transition.

October 2024: Box for TaskRay Package

Previously, organizations could install an extension package, Box for TaskRay, to quickly integrate Box with TaskRay objects for file management. Due to the packages limited usage, support for the Box for TaskRay Package will be retired on October 29, 2024. For alternative file management options, explore Box's Salesforce integration, or TaskRay's file management.
