The March 2021 Release of TaskRay is live, and it's packed full of features to make managing your work easier than ever! A new on-hold feature makes pausing and resuming projects a breeze, and enhancements to time tracking make entering and reporting on time more efficient than ever.
This article will walk through implementing some of the brand new features in the March 2021 Release - let’s dive in!
Start Using the On-Hold Projects Feature
We live in a world of uncertainties, and that's true when managing even the most repeatable of processes in TaskRay - when unforeseen hiccups arise, users can pause their projects using the new on-hold feature, and resume them when they're ready.
When a project is placed on-hold, it's moved out of the TaskRay views and filters - this allows users to focus on their active projects. On-hold projects will appear in the new standard On-Hold Projects board filter, and can be resumed with the click of a button.
To get started using the on-hold projects feature, edit the page layout(s) of the TaskRay project object. There are 2 key fields - On-Hold and On-Hold Date - to add to the layout(s).
Users can control their available standard board filters, and opt in or out of the On-Hold Projects board filter, via the tools & settings menu.
Implement Default Time Type and New Time Calculation Fields
Users have enough things to keep track of, marking their time billable shouldn't have to be one of them - with new default time type, template creators and project managers can default tasks' to billable or non-billable. When a task has a default time type, users' related time entries will be defaulted to that value automatically.
To get started using the default time feature, edit the page layout(s) of the TaskRay task object.
With this release, there are some exciting time tracking roll-up fields, for improved reporting and visibility, at the task, task group, and project level.
To get started using the new roll-up fields, simply add them to the page layout(s) of each object.
On the TaskRay task object, there is 1 new field:
- Actual Billable Time (hrs)
- A sum of all the task's billable time entries.
On the TaskRay task group object, there are 2 new fields:
- Actual Billable Time (hrs)
- A sum of all the billable time entries that are related to tasks in the task group.
- Estimated Billable Time (hrs)
- A sum of all the estimated time values of the tasks in the task group with a default time type of billable.
On the TaskRay project object, there are 2 new fields:
- Actual Billable Time (hrs)
- A sum of all the billable time entries that are related to tasks in the project.
- Estimated Billable Time (hrs)
- A sum of all the estimated time values of the tasks in the project with a default time type of billable.
