Saved baselines can be a great reference to see how a project and its tasks have performed over time. In TaskRay, it is possible to view a baseline and compare it to the actual project in Plan View. It is only possible to view one baseline against the actual project at a time.
Select a Baseline to View
- In Plan View, in the left sidebar, click on a project on which you want to see the baseline to enter single project view. Alternatively, you can use Single Project Search to select the project.
- Click on the Baselines button in the toolbar.
Note: If you can't click on the Baselines button (button is inactive), check that you only have one project selected in the left sidebar. Baselines cannot be accessed when multiple projects are selected. - This will open the Baselines menu. To view a baseline, select it under Show Baselines. A selected baseline will be indicated by a checkmark and its name will appear in the menu button.
Note: If you do not see the Show Baselines section in the menu, that means that the project does not have any saved baselines. To learn how to create baselines for a project, see this article.
Baseline Bar Colors
When a baseline is selected, you will notice that all of the bars on the timeline will have "shadow" bars below them. The shadow baseline bars will reflect the dates and statuses of the tasks at the time of when the baseline was set. The baseline bars will be color-coded for quick reference. Any task that was open (incomplete, but not overdue) at the time of when the baseline was set, its baseline bar will appear in gray; any task that was overdue will have a red baseline bar and any task that was complete will have a green baseline bar.
Notice, that as you reschedule the tasks or change the task statuses on the actual project, the baseline bars on those tasks remain in the same place and in the same color on the timeline.
Deselect Baseline
To remove the baseline from the Plan View timeline, you can click on the Clear button next to the Baselines menu.
