This feature is available on the following TaskRay Product Editions:

  • Starter
  • Standard
  • Premium

Note: Specific functionality varies by edition.

This article is focused on some foundational TaskRay topics, such as the steps for licensed users to access the TaskRay app within Salesforce, options for navigation, and a high-level overview of TaskRay interfaces for managing projects and tasks.

Access TaskRay

TaskRay can be accessed via the App Launcher from any page in Salesforce. TaskRay provides two app options by default: a regular Lightning App and a Console App. Generally speaking, TaskRay functionality will be the same in both, but there will be differences in navigation. More specifically, the regular Lightning App keeps users within TaskRay as they navigate around, such as when opening project and task details. Meanwhile, the Console App introduces a tabbed interface where users will switch between the TaskRay app and tabbed record detail pages in the Salesforce interface.

Either option can be leveraged for TaskRay depending on personal and organizational preferences.

Lightning App

To access, click on the App Launcher icon in the Salesforce navigational toolbar and select the TaskRay app from one of the tiles.

Console App

The TaskRay Console App provides a different way to interact with TaskRay using the Salesforce Console tabs. To access, click on the App Launcher icon in the Salesforce navigational toolbar and select the TaskRay app from one of the tiles.

Additional Details: Console App

By default, whenever a project or task is opened in the TaskRay Console App, a new console tab is opened to display the record information in the standard Salesforce interface.

Note | Admin Settings
It is possible to change how the navigation works for the Console App. Instead of opening project and task details as record tabs in the Salesforce interface, it is possible to view them as modals within the TaskRay app. If desired, this behavior can be changed by a System Administrator in the TaskRay Global Settings (to access: Setup | Custom Settings | TaskRay Global Settings) by enabling the Do not use console tabs for TaskRay Nav setting. With this setting enabled, the app will default to open Project and Task Details as modals within TaskRay.

The TaskRay Console App comes preconfigured with the TaskRay My Work Lightning Component in the utility bar, allowing users to manage their tasks wherever they are in Salesforce. You can read more about the TaskRay Lightning Components in this article.

A Quick Tour of TaskRay

As mentioned earlier, navigation will look different whether users are in the regular Lightning App or the Console App. That said, the general layout of TaskRay will be the same regardless of the selected option for navigation.

TaskRay Navigation

There are three main TaskRay-specific tabs that users will work out of.

Users also have the ability to refine visible project and task data using the in-app filtering mechanism. The built-in filtering functionality allows users to have pre-set options for filtering project and task data, making it easy to stay organized and focused on their priorities. For more information see the Enhanced Filtering documentation.

Available functionality varies by edition. The Configuration Hub is available on Standard and Premium Editions.

This tab accesses the Configuration Hub, which contains TaskRay admin and resource management settings.

TaskRay Lightning Components

TaskRay also provides a set of Lightning Components that can be used to extend TaskRay functionality to other areas within Salesforce. Components can be placed on record pages, as well as on home pages in Salesforce. These components are designed to streamline the user experience around managing and overseeing projects and assignments by surfacing relevant TaskRay functionality throughout the org.

Salesforce Administrators can customize pages in Salesforce to include TaskRay Lightning Components where necessary.
